My First Blog Post

Hello there & Welcome to my first blogging experience!

I'm hoping to be able to keep in touch with everyone with news bulletins & lots of photo's of quilts which I've worked on for my clients.

As I learn how to use this blogger page, I hope you will be patient with me while I create this blog site so it's simple & clear for you to read & enjoy. The plan is to post photo's of my client's quilts fairly regularly, together with any news which may be relevant at the time. Right now it's New Year's Eve, my husband & I are having a very quiet night in & are currently watching the Edinburgh Military Tatoo which is almost a tradition for us when home on this most auspicious evening.

We are in for some hot weather over the next week or two & also in the midst of school holidays, so my time will be keeping one grandson occupied for a few days...off to the movies I think & maybe having a swim or two to keep us cool!!

Here are a couple of pic's of recent work, hope you like them.

The work on this quilt was done with a design called Sconce by Hermoine of Lorien Quilting. I was able to edit the original design to make a border to match. The fabrics are Dupion Silk (except for the purple border which is Poly Satin) & I was commissioned to make this queen size quilt from scratch using a 'Trip Around the World' traditional design. Pillow Shams & a cushion were also made with the same fabrics & quilted the same, except for the cushion where I used a scaled down version of the border pattern with a cross hatched centre. My client was very pleased with the end result.

This quilt was beautifully made by Rose with simple stitcheries & 9 patch blocks. With the plain fabric of the stitchery blocks, this allowed me to add some texture & bring it to life. Some leaves & basic line patterns were added to the 9 patch blocks. She was very happy with the end result & it now lives on the couch in her living room.

I'll keep trying to add more photo's in coming weeks so please come back for another visit

Cheers, Val
