My name is Val Towill & I have been a Longarm Machine Quilter for more than 10 years.
I operate my business from home & have enjoyed quilting more than 1,500 quilts during this time.
I have also been a Quilter for more than 20 years & I think this gives me good background to work on quilts for my clients'.
I purchased my first machine in 2003, a short arm machine which I did 'my training' with. It soon became evident that I would outgrow this one, so plans were made for an upgrade to an A1 Elite Longarm. This proved to be one of my better decisions, I'm still using the same machine. A few years ago I added an Intelliquilter Computer System to the longarm, my next great business decision....I now use it with almost every quilt I work on...the most useful 'tool' I have in my Studio. With all the options that are available with the IQ, I doubt if I would still be quilting without it!!
You could say I've been 'playing with fabric' most of my life as I learnt to sew at a very early age. Encouraged by our mother, my sisters' & I all learned to sew as it was expected of us as training for when we had our own families later in life. Obviously it was a skill worth learning as it has now given me a career!
Quilting has become part of my life, both professionally & personally. Even my family are more accepting these days, knowing that I'm usually working in my studio on quilts mostly for my clients. Now & then I have a chance to make a quick quilt top for a friend or a new baby in the family, just as well I have the longarm handy to get the quilting done & have it finished quickly for whatever deadline I seem to have.
My grandchildren all have a quilt or two on their beds, it would be nice to have the time to make more for them.....
Check out the quilts on my own photo page to see some of the work I have done on my own quilts. My regular blog posts show lots of quilts done for my clients. Enjoy browsing through my blog & don't forget to 'follow me' for continued updates.
Cheers, Val
